Cop Shooter Convicted of Murders
On October 17, 2008, Dennis Joseph “DJ” Schofield was sentenced for the August 2004 double murders of
an Urbandale, Iowa couple. Schofield was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison for the
murders of Terry and Lisa Dilks who were identified as having been drug informants for the police against
Schofield’s sister, Lisa. Lisa Schofield is currently serving a federal sentence on drug charges. The
two life sentences were ordered to be served consecutively to each other and consecutively to the
sentence Schofield is currently serving. Schofield is currently serving a prison sentence of over 200
years for his part in a “reverse” drug deal during which he attempted to kill police officers who were
trying to arrest him. Schofield was again prosecuted by Assistant County Attorneys Dan Voogt and
Stephanie Cox of the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
