Derek Walter Crew FECR235002 was sentenced to prison for a term not to exceed 30
years for committing 3 Counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree. He was also sentenced
to a Special Sentence committing him into the custody of the Director of the Iowa
Department of Correction for the rest of his life, with eligibility for parole.
The Court ordered that he have No Contact with the victim.
Michael Vasquez, Jr., appeared for sentencing for the felony crime of Unauthorized
Possession of An Offensive Weapon. Mr. Vasquez was sentenced to prison for a term
not to exceed five years. The defendant pled guilty to the felony crime of Unauthorized
Possession of An Offensive Weapon on February 26, 2010.
Andrea LaForge appeared for sentencing for the crime of Involuntary Manslaughter,
a Class D Felony. Ms. LaForge was sentenced for her role in the death of Jamie Hill.
She was sentenced to a term of incarceration not to exceed five years, however that
sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation.
Steven Shade, Jr. pled guilty in Polk County Criminal Number FECR235047 to the crime
of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver - Cocaine Base Crack.
Sentencing was set for a later date. The defendant is being prosecuted by the Polk
County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
On February 5, 2010, Defendant Tory Webb, entered a plea of guilty to the charge
of: Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver as alleged in Count
I of the Trial Information, in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(d),
a Class D Felony. On April 26, 2010, Defendant Tory Webb was sentenced to a period
of incarceration not to exceed 5 years for the charge of: Possession of a Controlled
Substance With Intent to Deliver as alleged in Count I of the Trial Information,
in violation of Iowa Code Section (s) 124.401(1)(d). The judgment was deferred and
the defendant was placed on probation for a period of 5 years. The defendant shall
be supervised by the Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.

The judgment was deferred and the defendant was placed on probation for a period
of 5 years. The defendant shall be supervised by the Fifth Judicial District Department
of Correctional Services. Jacob J. Hines was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s

A probation revocation hearing was held regarding the above-captioned case. At the
hearing, the Court heard from the defendant’s probation officer who described how
the defendant had violated the terms of his probation. The violations stem from
the defendant’s drug abuse. The defendant testified on his own behalf and called
Demesha Lamar to testify for him as well. The defendant admitted his drug use, but
requested an additional opportunity to go through drug treatment. After hearing
the evidence, the court found the defendant’s probation should be revoked and the
original sentence imposed. The defendant had been placed on probation following
his plea of guilty to the crime of Willful Injury, a class D felony.

in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(d), and 902.8, a Class D Felony.
On April 27, 2010, Defendant Jacob A. McFarland was sentenced to a period of incarceration
not to exceed 15 years for the charge of: Possession of a Controlled Substance Third
Offense as a Habitual Offender, in violation of Iowa Code Section (s) 124.401(1)(d),
and 902.8. The sentence was suspended and the defendant was placed on probation

Erin Jacobs was sentenced to a ten (10) year term of incarceration with a mandatory
one-third minimum term. She had previously stipulated that she had violated the
conditions of her probation in case number FE205242. She was on probation for the
crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver, a Class C
felony. This defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug
and Gang Bureau.
Dirk Vondell Jordan FECR233535 was sentenced to prison for a term not to exceed
5 years for committing Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury and Felon in Possession
of a Firearm. The Court also ordered that he have No Contact with the victim.
On April 12, 2010, Defendant Gary L. Baring II, entered a plea of guilty to the
charge of: Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver as a Habitual
Offender, in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(c)(3), and 902.8, a Class
C Felony On April 28, 2010, Defendant Gary L. Baring II, was sentenced to a period
of incarceration not to exceed 15 years for the charge of: Possession of a Controlled
Substance With Intent to Deliver as a Habitual Offender, in violation of Iowa Code
Section (s) 124.401(1)(c)(3), and 902.8. The defendant shall be committed to the
custody of the Director of the Iowa Department of Corrections. Gary L. Baring II,

Lonnie Dewayne Robinson pled guilty in FE234880 to the charge of Willful Injury
Causing Bodily Injury stemming from an assault where Robinson struck another with
a beer bottle and caused him serious lacerations. Robinson will be transferred on
a change of jail site to Mount Pleasant Iowa Residential Treatment Facility and
upon successful completion of same, will reside at a halfway house if the Court
grants him probation. Sentencing will be June 8, 2010 at 8:30 a.m.
Eddie Sapp was convicted by jury on April 13, 2010 of the charge of Assault Causing
Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor, for kicking a man in the head and rendering him unconscious
while they were both in jail. He was sentenced on April 29, 2010 to the maximum
sentence of 365 days and required to pay of fine of $1500.00 in FE234454.
Bryan L. Moore was sentenced for the crime of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance,
a Class C felony, as a second or subsequent offender, in case number FE234244. He
was sentenced to an indeterminate term not to exceed twenty (20) years and must
serve a mandatory one-third of this sentence prior to becoming eligible for parole.
This defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang
Bureau.

Robin Duran plead guilty to the charge of Fraudulent Practice 2nd Degree, in violation
of Iowa Code Sections 294A.8 and 714.8(10), a Class D Felony. Duran received a Deferred
Judgment and was placed on probation for two years. As a condition of probation
Duran must pay full restitution to the victims.
Mark Johnny plead guilty to the crime of Fraudulent Practice-2nd Degree, in violation
of Iowa Code Sections 294A.8 and 714.8(10), a Class D Felony. Sentencing is scheduled
for June 22, 2010 at 2:00PM in Room 204.
Heather Hascall was sentenced for the crimes of Perjury and Falsifying Iowa Identification,
in violation of Iowa Code Sections 321.217 and 321.216A(4), Class D Felonies. Hascall
received a Deferred Judgment and was placed on probation for two years.
Darrell D. Saunders plead guilty to and was sentenced for the crimes of Possession
of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver, cocaine base “crack,” two counts,
Class C felonies, as a second or subsequent offender, in case numbers FE234894 and
FE233936. He was sentenced to an indeterminate term not to exceed fifteen (15) years
and ten (10) years, consecutive, and must serve a mandatory one-third of this sentence
prior to becoming eligible for parole. This defendant was prosecuted by the Polk
County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
Stacy Roemen was sentenced for the crimes of Conspiracy to Manufacture a Controlled
Substance, a Class C felony, Possession of Ephedrine or Pseudoephedrine With Intent
It Be Used to Manufacture a Controlled Substance, a Class D felony, and Possession
of a Controlled Substance, methamphetamine, in case numbers FE232745 and SR232068.
She was sentenced to an indeterminate term not to exceed ten (10) years, five (5)
years and one hundred and eighty (180) days, consecutive, and must serve a mandatory
one-third of the ten (10) year sentence prior to becoming eligible for parole. These
sentences were suspended and Ms. Roemen was placed on probation for five (5) years.

to exceed 25 years for the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance With
Intent to Deliver as a lesser-included offense as alleged in Count I of the Trial
Information, in violation of Iowa Code Section (s) 124.401(1)(b)(3), , and was sentenced
to a period of incarceration not to exceed 5 years for the charge of: Failure to
Possess a Tax Stamp, in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 453B.3, and 453B.12. These
sentences are to run consecutive to each other for a total period of 30 years. The
defendant shall be committed to the custody of the Director of the Iowa Department
