TRICH |
Also called Trichomoniasis. This is caused by a tiny protozoan called Trichomonas vaginalis.
How You Catch It:
- Having sexual intercourse with an infected person.
When Symptoms Show:
Signs of Infection:
- A woman has a discharge from her vagina that can be bubbly, yellow and smells bad. Her vagina can itch or burn. Most men, and a few women, have no early symptoms. A man can have a discharge from his penis, or it can itch or burn.
Problems:
- No serious permanent damage.
Tests:
- Liquid from the woman’s vagina or the man’s penis can be checked under a microscope, or other tests can be done.
Treatment:
- A doctor or clinic can prescribe medicine to cure this infection. Any sex partner must be treated at the same time, so you don’t get infected all over again.
You can’t drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine, because the medicine will not work, and you can become ill.
Other:
- Any sex partner should be tested and treated. Don’t have sex with anyone until the doctor or clinic says you are cured.
