Open Burning Permits

Upon receipt of a written request, Polk County may issue a permit for an open fire for the following purposes. Disaster rubbish, tree and tree trimmings, flare stacks, landscape waste (clearing & grubbing), training fires, bonfire, right of way clean up, controlled burning of demolished buildings and prairie re-establishment.

Each open burn permit may contain conditions and is subject to the provisions set forth in Polk Count Board of Health Rules & Regulations Chapter V –Air Pollution.
