On May 27th, 2008, Casey Oren Black, FECR218836, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver-marijuana, as alleged in Count I of the Trial Information, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(1)(d), a Class D Felony. On July 14th, 2008, he received a deferred judgment and probation with the applicable $750.00 civil penalty. This case was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
Robert Williams plead guilty to and was sentenced for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance, cocaine base “crack”, With Intent to Deliver, a Class C felony, in case FECR217841. He was sentenced to a maximum indeterminate term of ten (10) years and must serve a mandatory minimum term of one-third before he is eligible for parole. This defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
Jeffrey Smith, Jr. was sentenced for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance, cocaine base “crack”, With Intent to Deliver, a Class C felony, in case FECR216691. He was sentenced to a maximum indeterminate term of ten (10) years and must serve a mandatory minimum term of one-third before he is eligible for parole. This sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for three (3) years. This defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.

Brandon Prothero had a probation violation status conference. An evidentiary hearing was set for July 24, 2008 in Room 204.
Joshua Walker plead guilty to Assault Causing Bodily Injury in FECR219822 and received a suspended sentence with probation, no contact order, 25 hours community service, VORP, restitution and four days in jail.
Spencer Virden plead guilty to Burglary in the Third Degree. Sentencing is set for 8/26/08.
Bradley Thurman had a probation violation hearing. Defendant stipulated to violations and probation was revoked and sentenced to 5 years in prison. Underlying charge was credit card fraud.
Troy Dowell FECR 220155 pled guilty and was sentenced on Invasion of Privacy, Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Neglect of a Dependent Person. The Court sentenced the defendant to prison for a term not to exceed twenty one years. In addition, he was sentenced to have No Contact with the victims, required to participate in sex offender treatment program, and to register as a convicted sex offender. When the defendant is released from prison, he is committed to the custody of the director of the Iowa Department of Corrections for the rest of his life.
