Derrick L. Fant was sentenced for the crime of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance, cocaine base “crack”, a Class B felony, in case FECR219081. He was sentenced to a maximum indeterminate term of twenty-five (25) years, but this sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. On June 17th, 2008, Joshua Adam Hamilton, FECR219090, pled guilty to the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver-marijuana, as alleged in Count I of the Trial Information, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(1)(d), a Class D Felony. On August 4th, 2008, the defendant came before the Court for sentencing. The defendant received a 5 year suspended sentence and was placed on probation for two years with the applicable $750.00 fine. This case was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
On June 17th, 2008, Raymond Ray Kiefer, FECR218958, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver-methamphetamine, as alleged in Count I of the Trial Information, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(1)(b)(7), a Class B Felony as a second or subsequent offender. On August 4, 2008, this case came before the Court for sentencing. The State of Iowa argued for a 50 year prison sentence, based on the defendant’s criminal record which included a prior possession with intent to deliver case involving methamphetamine where the defendant served 25 years in prison. The Defense argued for a 25 year prison sentence. The Court sentenced him to 30 years in prison with the requirement that he complete a mandatory 1/3 of that sentence before being eligible for parole. This case was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
