Keith English pled guilty to Burglary in the Third Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Polk County criminal case FECR251077. Sentencing was scheduled for March 5, 2012.
Devon Carr was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to Eluding, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Interference with Official Acts in Polk County Criminal case number FECR247850.
Dennis Korf was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm in Polk County Criminal case number FECR249966.
Darren Wilson was granted a deferred judgment and placed on probation for two years after pleading guilty to Fraudulent Practice in the Second Degree in Polk County Criminal case number FECR250120.
Jason Musso and Nathaniel Collier appeared for arraignment on criminal charges. They pled not guilty and a pretrial conference hearing and trial date were scheduled on their respective cases.
Gregory Harris stipulated that he violated terms and conditions of his probation in Polk County Criminal case number FECR243885. The Court ordered that he reside at the Fort Des Moines Residential Facility and continued him on probation.
On January 23, 2012, Kathy Blythe FE250778, entered a guilty plea to the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, as alleged in Count I of the Trial Information, in violation of Iowa Code Sections 124.401(1)( c )(6), a Class C Felony as a Second or Subsequent Offender, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.411. The Defendant waived time and notice and requested immediate sentencing. Both parties were recommending a twenty year prison sentence. The Court agreed with the recommendation and she was sentenced to prison for twenty years. This case was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.

On January 24, 2012, Fernando Hernandez-Puga was sentenced to prison in Polk County Criminal Number FECR236257 for a period not to exceed 50 years for the crimes of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) as a Second or Subsequent Offender and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine) and for a period not to exceed 5 years for the crime of Failure to Possess a Tax Stamp. The defendant was previously convicted of these offenses at the conclusion of a jury trial. The defendant was found guilty of conspiring to transport the better part of three pounds of methamphetamine into the Des Moines area for re-distribution. The defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
On December 7, 2011, Defendant Robert W. Lloyd, Sr., entered a plea of guilty to the charge of: Delivery of a Controlled Substance, to wit: dilaudid, as alleged in the Trial Information, a Class C Felony, in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(c)(8). On January 24, 2012, Defendant Robert W. Lloyd, Sr., was sentenced to a period of incarceration not to exceed 10 years for the charge of: Delivery of a Controlled Substance, to wit: dilaudid, as alleged in the Trial Information, a Class C Felony, in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(c)(8). The sentence in this matter was suspended and the Defendant was placed on probation. Robert W. Lloyd, Sr. was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.

Brajendra Das was found guilty by jury of the charge of Fraudulent Practice 2nd Degree in FE249861. He was found to have falsely reported his income to Iowa Workforce Development. Das was working during the time he claimed unemployment. He reported an income less than what he was being paid. IWD, based on state guidelines, awarded him unemployment based on the amounts he reported. When a random audit was conducted, the overpayment was revealed. Das failed to respond to an inquiry from IWD. He was paid over $2000 to which he was not entitled. He will be sentenced in March, 2012. He could face up to five (5) years in prison.
On January 25, 2012, Kiko Simmons was convicted upon a jury trial of the crimes of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance, cocaine base “crack”, a Class B felony, while in the immediate possession or control of a firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver, cocaine base “crack,” a Class C felony, Failure to Possess a Tax Stamp, a Class D felony, Possession of a Simulated Controlled Substance, MDMA (ecstasy), With Intent to Deliver, a Class C felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, marijuana, in case number FECR246211. He further admitted that he is both an habitual offender and a second or subsequent offender. He will be sentenced on March 8, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 208. He faces a maximum indeterminate term of one hundred and fifty (150) years in Count I, forty-five (45) years in Count II, fifteen (15) years in Count III, forty-five (45) years in Count V and fifteen (15) years in Count VI, a total potential term of two hundred and seventy (270) years in prison, and will be required to serve a mandatory one-third of this sentence prior to becoming eligible for parole. This defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
On January 25, 2012, Phillip Findley was sentenced to prison in Polk County Criminal Number FECR251149 for a period not to exceed 20 years for the crime of Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine Base "Crack") as a Second or Subsequent Offender. The Court ordered the defendant’s sentence be served consecutively to his outstanding parole. The defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
On January 25, 2012, Meleah Lawrence stipulated to violating her probation. She further agreed to extend her probation. The Court therefore extended Ms. Lawrence’s probation to 1-20-2015 and again ordered the defendant to pay full restitution.
On January 25, 2012, Timothy Mericle pled guilty to Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree. The Court ordered that a presentence investigation report be prepared. Sentencing is set for March 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom 204.
On January 25, 2012, Deanna Moore’s application for hearing on restitution was set. Ms. Moore’s lawyer, Jason Hauser, advised the Court that the criminal restitution had been paid in full- by the defendant make payments directly to the Clerk of Court and also through EMCC Insurance Company directly to the ward’s estate. The Court will subsequently enter the appropriate Order.
On January 25, 2012, Shannon Bellet’s sentencing was continued to March 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Room 204. It was continued to allow Ms. Bellet an opportunity to resolve a pending case, in another County.
