On October 13, 2009, Kevin Brammer, FECR230811, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled
Substance-Oxycodone, Third Offense, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(5),
a Class D Felony. Pending sentencing, the Defendant successfully completed the United
Community Services In-Jail Treatment Program. On February 16, 2010, he came before
the Court for sentencing and received a 5 year suspended sentence and probation.
This case was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
On November 10, 2009, Matthew J. Grubb, FECR231000, pled guilty to Possession of
a Controlled Substance-methamphetamine, Third Offense, as alleged in Count II of
the Trial Information, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(5), a Class D Felony.
Pending sentencing, the Defendant completed the Iowa Residential Treatment Center
in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. On February 16, 2010, he came before the Court for sentencing
and received a 5 year suspended sentence and probation with the applicable $750.00
fine. As an added condition of probation, the defendant must reside at the Point
of Entry Recovery House, until maximum benefits are achieved. This case was prosecuted
by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
In State of Iowa v. William Pratti, FECR234027, the defendant entered guilty pleas
to three counts of Fraudulent Practice in the Third Degree, all aggravated misdemeanors.
He agreed to make restitution on the three counts of Tax Evasion that were dismissed.
The defendant was sentenced to two years in prison on each count, the prison terms
were to run consecutive for a total of 6 years and the prison term was then suspended.
In State of Iowa v. Jared Piper, FECR210073, AGCR219763 and SRCR230456, the defendant’s
probation officer filed a report of violations alleging that the defendant violated
his probation. The defendant agreed that he violated the terms and conditions of
his probation by exposing himself to his neighbor. He was ordered to reside at the
Fort Des Moines Men’s Residential Facility until maximum benefits are received.
In State of Iowa v. Nicholas Smith, FECR231672, the defendant appeared for sentencing
on the charge of Burglary in the Third Degree. He previously entered a plea of guilty
to this charge on December 2, 2009. The defendant received a suspended sentence,
but must reside at the Fort Des Moines Men’s Residential Facility until maximum
benefits have been received.
On December 11, 2009, Defendant Cortez M. Blake, Jr., entered a plea of guilty to
the charge of Count I: Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver,
in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1) (c),(8) a Class C Felony. On February
17, 2010, Defendant Cortez M. Blake, Jr., was sentenced to a period of incarceration
not to exceed 10 years for the charge of Count I: Possession of a Controlled Substance
With Intent to Deliver, in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(c)(8), a
Class C Felony. The defendant was committed to the custody of the Director of the
Iowa Department of Corrections. Cortez M. Blake, Jr., was prosecuted by the Polk
County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
State of Iowa v. Simeon Gweeme Dolo, FECR224054. On February 16, 2010, Simeon Gweeme
Dolo plead guilty to Robbery in the Second Degree, Willful Injury Causing Serious
Injury and Going Armed with Intent. The charges arose on May 31, 2008, when the
defendant, Simeon Dolo, robbed the International Foods Mart located in a strip mall
at 2720 Douglas Avenue in Des Moines. During the robbery, the defendant brandished
a handgun and demanded money from the owner of the store. A fight ensued and the
defendant struck the victim in the head with a handgun. The handgun was not fired
during the robbery. During the robbery, the defendant was wearing a ski mask, which
was pulled off during the fight. Immediately after losing the ski mask, the defendant
ran from the scene. During the robbery the defendant was assisted by a co-defendant,
a woman, who was recognized by the victim. An investigation by the Des Moines Police
Department resulted in the identification of the defendant, Simeon Gweeme Dolo,
as the person who committed the robbery in this case. Following his plea of guilty
to the charges listed above, the defendant was sentenced to a total of 25 years.
Ten years on the Robbery Second charge, 10 years on the Willful Injury Causing Serious
Injury charge and five years on the Going Armed with Intent charge. The sentences
were run consecutively for a total of 25 years with a mandatory minimum seven years
before the defendant will be eligible for parole.

On January 7, 2010, Defendant Demarquis J. Green, entered a plea of guilty to the
charge of: Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver, in violation
of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(d), a Class D Felony. On February 18, 2010 Defendant
Demarquis J. Green, was sentenced for a total period not to exceed 5 years for the
charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver in violation
of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(d), a Class D Felony. The judgment in this case
was deferred, and the defendant was placed on probation for a period of 5 years
to be supervised by the Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services.
Demarquis J. Green was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and
Gang Bureau.
Joshua Olson was found in contempt of court and ordered to serve ninety (90) days
in the Polk County Jail for violating his probation in case number FE220261. His
probation was extended and he was also ordered to wear a monitoring ankle bracelet.
He was previously granted probation for the crime of Possession of a Controlled
Substance With Intent to Deliver, a Class C felony. This defendant was prosecuted
by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
Kimberly Jones-Schuler stipulated that she had violated the conditions of her probation
in case number FE225630. She was ordered to remain in the custody of the Polk County
Jail until she can enter the Women’s Residential Facility. She was previously granted
probation for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver,
a Class C felony. This defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office
Drug and Gang Bureau.
James Park was sentenced for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance With
Intent to Deliver, marijuana, a Class D felony, in case number FE232741. Judgment
was deferred and he was placed on five years probation. This defendant was prosecuted
by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
Timothy Wald was sentenced for the crimes of Possession of a Controlled Substance
With Intent to Deliver, methamphetamine, a Class C felony, and Failure to Possess
a Tax Stamp, a Class D felony, in case number FE232094. He was sentenced to terms
of ten (10) years and five (5) years, consecutive, but these sentences were suspended
and he was placed on five years probation. This defendant was prosecuted by the
Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and Gang Bureau.
Juan Albarran-Garcia was sentenced to prison in Polk County Criminal Number FECR229534
for a period not to exceed 10 years for the crime of Intimidation with a Dangerous
Weapon and for a period not to exceed 5 years for the crime of Criminal Gang Participation.
These crimes stemmed from a gang-related drive-by shooting on the east side of Des
Moines. The defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office Drug and
Gang Bureau.
Stacey Worthey was sentenced to prison in Polk County Criminal Number FECR232572
for a period not to exceed 15 years for the crime of Conspiracy to Manufacture a
Controlled Substance, as a Second or Subsequent Offender. The defendant was prosecuted

2010 Defendant Deaundra A. Alexander, was sentenced for a total period not to exceed
5 years for the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver
in violation of Iowa Code Section(s) 124.401(1)(d), a Class D Felony. The judgment
in this case was deferred, and the defendant was placed on probation for a period

Fernando Jimenez plead guilty to Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree in FECR 233607
and was sentenced to a term of imprisonment not to exceed ten years in prison by
Judge Arthur Gamble.
Brian Underwood was sentenced to prison in Polk County Criminal Number FECR233649
for a period not to exceed 25 years for the crime of Manufacturing a Controlled
Substance, for a period not to exceed 5 years for the crime of Possession of Ether
with Intent it be Used to Manufacture a Controlled Substance, and for a period not
to exceed 5 years for the crime of Possession of Lithium with Intent it be Used
to Manufacture a Controlled Substance The Court ordered the sentences to be served
consecutively. The defendant was prosecuted by the Polk County Attorney’s Office
Drug and Gang Bureau.
Billy Grear was sentenced to prison in Polk County Criminal Number FECR233937 for
a period not to exceed 10 years for the crime of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance.

On February 16, 2010, Defendant Nicholas A. Logan entered a plea of guilty to the

to a period of incarceration not to exceed 5 years for the charge of Possession

in Count II of the Trial Information, in violation of Iowa Code Section 124.401(5),
an Aggravated Misdemeanor. On February 19, 2010, he appeared before the Court for
sentencing. The State of Iowa argued for a two year prison sentence. The Defense
argued for sixty days in jail. The Court sentenced him to prison for two years.
