Altoona Woman Guilty in Daycare Case
Connie Sue Wright has been found guilty of providing daycare without having the proper state licenses. Wright, of Altoona, went to trial before a jury in Polk County District Court on September 24, 2008. Wright was charged in March of this year after Police and Department of Human Services workers entered her home at 307 10th Ave, SW and found Wright caring for approximately twenty children. There was one other adult in the home caring for the children at the time of the police visit. Police reported that there was little food and virtually no furniture in the home. A State license is required if a person cares for more than seven children.
The case went to trial before the Honorable Colin Witt, District Associate Judge. The jury received the case at about 4:00 P.M. on the 25th of September and returned their verdict of guilty within thirty minutes. Wright will be sentenced on December 1, 2008 at 8:15 A.M..
