On Thursday, January 19, 2012, Tyler Small was sentenced to prison for Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree and Child Endangerment, for sodomizing and assaulting a two year old baby.
At sentencing, Mr. Small denied that he committed these crimes, but claimed he had no chance at trial. The Court stated “I think the reason you had no chance is because the evidence was absolutely overwhelming against you, and I think you realize that. I think you’re in complete denial about this, and it’s obvious to everyone, except yourself, that you did this and you have a serious—you know, calling it serious is an understatement—problem. This is a vicious crime against a helpless baby.” The Court sentenced the defendant to 25 years in prison. Tyler Small will be required to serve 70% of that sentence (17.5 years in prison) before he is eligible for parole. After he is released from prison, the defendant will be required to serve a life time special sentence of supervision by the Department of Corrections.
