Join us as we canoe and geocache down the Des Moines River. We’ll start at Harriett Street and paddle down to Yellow Banks Park for a total of 10.25 miles. Geocaches will be hidden along the river and at Yellow Banks Park for you to find. Previous paddling experience is required. GPS units will be available for check-out. Bring food and drink.
A limited number of canoes are available from Polk County Conservation for $15/person. Register on-line for a spot in a canoe. You are welcome to bring your own canoe or kayak, email Heidi at Heidi.anderson@polkcountyiowa.gov to let us know.
Fee: $15/person for canoe registration; FREE if you bring your own canoe or kayak.
Minimum age 10.
Canoe registration deadline is June 22.
