Iowa is often considered to be one of the flattest states in the Midwest. But Iowa has a distinct collection of landforms. Unique shapes and features change from one part of the state to another.

Iowa’s landforms reflect a unique history of geologic events. These geologic events have shaped the land also influence the distribution of native plant and animal communities in Iowa.
