Flooding Closures

Friday, June 20, 2014

Due to high lake water level, several areas will remain closed until further notice.

Jester Park:

  • Campgrounds #3 & #6,
  • Camground #2 (opening by 7/23)
  • Interior Boat Ramp (Mile Long Boat Ramp is also closed)

Jester Park Equestrian Center Closures

Due to flood control measures, Saylorville Lake occasionally has water levels over 860 ft (above sea level). Once above 860 ft, operations and programs at JPEC require additional planning. Current proposed changes until further notice due to rising lake levels are as follows:

Trail Operations-
o Trail rides operated by JPEC will continue with an abbreviated route on the higher trail system. This will offer a recreational ride of 45 minutes, at an abbreviated rate of $25.00/per person.
o Public trail riders will be notified via PCC websites and Facebook postings of the prohibited use of the lower trails due to flooding. Public trail riders will also be notified when  seen at JPEC’s main parking lot.

o Wagon Rides will be cancelled from 6/24/14-7/20/14 due to lack of an appropriate trail system for safe wagon travel.
o An abbreviated wagon ride for special groups scheduled prior to this date will be provided with approval from the Equestrian Center Manager and coordinated with the Program Specialist.

JPEC Management will monitor lake levels daily to ascertain appropriate times to resume normal operations.
