January 31, 2017 is the last day to enroll or renew health insurance for 2017
(Des Moines, IA) – January 31, 2017 is the last day to enroll in or change a 2017 individual or family health insurance plan covered by the Affordable Care Act. Marketplace health insurance open enrollment closes on January 31, 2017. The Polk County Health Department, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, Broadlawns Medical Center, Primary Health Care, Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa and Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines will host a health insurance enrollment and renewal fair on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm located at the Altoona Public Library (700 8th St. SW, Altoona, Iowa 50009) to help individuals and families through the health insurance process.
In order to help individuals and families understand their choices and assist them with the sign-up process, the health insurance fair will be staffed by professionals, who will provide individuals with one-on-one enrollment assistance. Staff will provide individuals with detailed information about each Marketplace Health Insurance Plan offered in Iowa and can help determine eligibility for Marketplace subsidies. Spanish interpreters will be available at the event.
In order to complete the enrollment application at the fair, please bring the following information:
- Driver’s license or government ID
- Social Security Number
- Copy of 2015 income tax returns or last pay stub
- Email address and account information
