Administration

The Information Technology is a division under the Polk County Board of Supervisors. Currently, the IT staff is comprised of 1 CIO, 2 Managers, 2 Project Managers, 2 Business Analysts, 12 Development staff, and 13 Operations staff. The CIO reports to the County Manager based in the BOS office.

The staff is roughly divided into two main groups - Application Development and Operations (infrastructure support).

Applications Development Manager

The IT management team is responsible for a number of tasks, including the following:

  • Daily direction and management of IT staff
  • Project planning, scheduling and management
  • Project cost/benefit analysis
  • Coordination and facilitation of Steering Committees
  • Budget development, administration and reporting
  • Administration of all hardware/software maintenance contracts with external vendors
  • Procurement of all technology hardware and software
  • Strategic Planning
  • Development and execution of the Asset Replacement (Rollover) Schedule
  • Communications with Elected Officials and Department Heads
  • Procurement and management of outside consulting resources
  • Disaster Recovery planning
  • Recommending new technologies
