Civil Division
Beginning July 18, 2011 the Civil Division opened a Satellite Office at the Court Staging Building, formerly known as the Polk County Jail, at 110- 6th Avenue in downtown Des Moines.
Chief Leesa Shoemaker heads the Civil Division that is responsible for receiving, processing and serving civil and criminal court orders and legal documents.
In order to better serve the citizens of Polk County, the Sheriff's Office has a Civil Division Satellite Office on the first floor of the Court Staging Building, formerly known as the Polk County Jail. Since it is across the street from the Polk County Courthouse, the process of filing time-sensitive documents such as protective orders will be much more convenient. Sheriff's Sales and garnishment processing will continue to be held at the Civil Division Office at River Place.
