Deputy Mark Mohr and K9 Dameon
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit is a valuable resource utilized by the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office currently has two Canine Teams. Each K9 Team provides coverage to support members of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and is available to other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies within and outside of Polk County upon request.
Each team consists of an on-duty Deputy Sheriff and their canine partner. The K9 teams are trained on building searches, tracking suspects, performing article searches, detecting narcotics and handler protection.
Deputy John Pohlman and K9 Egon
Each K9 is certified yearly through the Heart of America Police Dog Association. K9 Dameon and Egon live with their handler and are members of the handler's families. The K9 Unit trains regularly with other agency K9 Teams. Each K9 Team also conducts public service canine demonstrations.
