Reserve Deputy
The Polk County Sheriff's Office Reserve Program is comprised of
a group of dedicated volunteers. These volunteers come from a
variety of private sector jobs, including Business Owners,
Engineers, Fire Fighters, Mechanics, Teachers, and
Retirees.
This volunteer program provides an invaluable service to Polk
County citizens by assisting and supporting the daily operations of
the Patrol and Jail Divisions. Reserve Deputies also assist
with special assignments such as the Pony Express Ride, Dam-to-Dam
Run and other functions.
Reserve Deputies are required to complete a certified basic law
enforcement reserve academy. Their training consists of:
- CPR / First Aid
- Firearms
- Human Behavior
- Criminal Law
- Investigations
- Report Writing
- Officer Survival Techniques along with other specialized
training.
Reserve Deputies are recruited when openings become available in
the program. Openings will be posted on the Polk County
website with directions for application at that time.
