8-09-12/ 1 ARRESTED AFTER PURSUIT
Monday, August 13, 2012
David Evans, a 26-year old resident of West Des Moines, was arrested today at about 4:20 p.m. on charges of possession of stolen property, eluding, interference with official acts, giving false information to a law enforcement officer, driving while barred, and Polk County warrants for possession of schedule II, and failure to appear for a child support hearing.
A foot pursuit began at 4:13 p.m. when a Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy located a stolen vehicle, a blue Ford Ranger, in a parking lot in the 2500 block of East Euclid. Evans, who was standing next to the Ford Ranger, ran through the parking lot and led the deputy around the block and back to the parking lot.
When Evans returned to the parking lot, he drove the Ranger in an attempt to elude the deputy who continued the pursuit in his patrol vehicle along Euclid and several side streets. Approximately ten minutes later, Evans ended up in the west ditch at NE 49th Avenue and NE 29th Street. He was taken into custody, checked by a responding ambulance crew, and then transported to the Polk County Jail. No injuries were reported.
