Satellite Station September 30
MARY MALONEY, POLK COUNTY TREASURER—The first installment deadline for property tax due in fiscal year 2016-2017 is Friday, September 30th, 2016. Maloney reminds taxpayers that Friday, September 30th is the last day to pay in person without late interest. Office hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the Polk County Administrative Office Building, 2nd & Court Avenue. Maloney states “We are expecting twenty-one thousand customers to walk into our office this month. You are encouraged to pay online at www.IowaTaxAndTags.gov. Full or partial payments can be made with an electronic check, debit card, credit card, or by Dwolla. Try the electronic check option. It’s $0.30 in comparison to a postage stamp which is now $0.47.”
The construction of new downtown entertainment venues and amenities will limit access to parking. Mary Maloney, Polk County Treasurer, would like to reiterate that the best alternative for citizens is to pay online at the 24/7 website www.IowaTaxAndTags.gov.
A satellite station will be available on Friday, September 30th, at Polk County River Place, Room 6, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Payments at the satellite station are limited to property taxes. Accepted forms of payment are check, credit card, debit card, and electronic check – service fees apply to credit card, debit card and electronic check payments. NO CASH transactions will be accepted.
Payments may be mailed but must have a September 30th postmark to be processed without late interest. To receive a September 30th postmark, please mail by 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016, at the main post office. If mailing from an outlying post office, please check postmark deadline requirements with the post office to obtain a timely postmark. Interest on delinquent taxes accrues at 1.5% per month. Company affixed metered mail dates do not supersede the post office postmark.
