Polk County Iowa and Supervisor Matt McCoy Release Joint Statement

Des Moines, IA- As elected officials, our most important obligations are to the citizen taxpayers of Polk County, Iowa. In our shared desire to focus our joint efforts on good local governance and resolve pending claims, a resolution was reached which ends all pending litigation between Polk County, Iowa, the Polk County Attorney, Supervisor McCoy and the rest of the Board, and Polk County Administrator John R. Norris.
As part of this resolution, on Tuesday, Supervisor McCoy has agreed to dismiss his lawsuit against Polk County, Iowa, the other four members of the Polk County Board of Supervisors, Administrator Norris, and the County Attorney. As part of the resolution, Supervisor McCoy withdraws all of his allegations against his fellow Supervisors, Mr. Norris, and the County Attorney, reaffirms his respect for his colleagues’ and their history of public service, and welcomes a return to working closely with them.
Today’s resolution is in furtherance of the Board’s shared duties to the citizens of Polk County, Iowa. This resolution demonstrates every Supervisor’s commitment to public service, the betterment of the county, and the need to work collectively for the greater good.
