While General Assistance exists to help qualifying residents with emergencies, helping you reduce or eliminate the need to apply for future emergency assistance is one of our most important goals 

Polk County provides professional financial counseling for Polk County residents at no cost, as a public service

This is not just general financial education or literacy.  Trained financial coaches will look at your individual financial situation with you, help you track your spending and obligations, and then look for opportunities to increase your credit score, reduce debt and increase savings.
