Modifications to CFYS Program Services Due to COVID-19
IMPORTANT NOTICE- PLEASE READ
Community and Congregate Meal Sites
Sites not open to the public for group activities starting Monday, March 16, 2020, but staff are still available.
Meals will continue to be provided to interested and registered congregate meal participants from 11am to 1pm in a “drive-through” system in the parking lots of the following centers:
Polk County Community Evening Meals
Polk County Community Evening Meals at the Norwoodville, Central, West and South Community Centers will served from 1:45pm to 2:30pm and will be delivered outside.
Norwoodville, South, East, North, Northwest, West, Central, Ankeny, Grimes
Meals can be reserved for future days by calling the selected site or at the time of picking up a meal.
Library Programming- The Des Moines Public Library Board of Trustees have cancelled all library programming at Franklin, Central, North and Polk City libraries for the month of March.

Polk County General Assistance
Lobby not open for in-person applications starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020, but staff are still available to assist.
Applications will be processed on-line, by phone or e-mail. Some in-person processing may be required but would be by appointment only.
River Place and Northside Food Pantries
Stores not open for walk-in shopping starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020, but staff are still available to assist.
Food will be distributed by staff from the parking lots. Staff will take orders, prepare the food packages and bring them outside for customers.
“Free Wall” products will be prepackaged and delivered outside instead of self-selection.
Hours of operation may vary. Customers may also call ahead at 286-2220 (North) or 286-3695 (River Place).
If not yet registered for the food pantry, please call ahead. There are no income requirements for access to the pantry.
Commodity Supplemental Foods
Store not open for walk-in shopping starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020, but staff are still available to assist.
All food packages will be delivered directly to registered customers. Staff will be calling registered customers to arrange for delivery.
New customers can apply on-line or call 286-3655 or 1-877-288-3655.
Crisis and Advocacy Services (CAS)
The CAS lobby will not be open to in-person visitors starting Monday, March 16, but advocates reamin ready and available to provide support and assistance.
Persons seeking crime victim or sexual assault advocacy are encouraged to call Polk County Crisis and Advocacy at 515-286-3600.
For the near future assistance will be through individual advocacy; group activities will resume at a later date.
Family Enrichment Center (FEC)
The FEC lobby will not be open to in-person visitors starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Case managers will be working and will be in communication with thier participants during this time.
