Cedars for Celebration

When & Where:

This event occurred in the past.

Bring home an eco-tree this holiday season and help Trees Forever and Polk County Conservation restore native habitat at Jester Park! Invasive cedars compete with other native plants for nutrients and space, quickly taking over an area if given the opportunity but make excellent indoor and outdoor decorations. We have a wide range of cedars in a variety of shapes and sizes, from the perfect Charlie Brown to the town square centerpiece. Complimentary cocoa and cookies provided! Come and go as you please between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

We'll have volunteer sawyers on hand or bow saws available for you to cut your own tree. We will provide twine to secure your tree to your vehicle but we encourage you to bring your own rope or other lashing material. Gloves are recommended (provided to those without).

Trees and this event are free to the public. Donations are welcome with proceeds benefiting habitat restoration and non-invasive tree planting efforts throughout Polk County and across the state of Iowa.

This event will be held at Jester Park just southeast of the park on NW 107th St. Follow event and parking signs. For more information, contact Melissa Schmeling at melissa.schmeling@polkcountyiowa.gov
