Volunteer Restoration Days - Woodlands
Invasive species removal is at the forefront of restoration efforts in our Iowa woodlands. Spend your time on the frontline of this continuous battle as we remove plant species that that threaten urban woodlands by reducing local biodiversity, native habitat, and local water quality. Restoration work not only improves the quality of Iowa’s woodlands but also limits soil erosion, serves to protect watersheds, and provide valuable food sources and nesting sites for wildlife. Volunteers will learn how to properly identify invasive species, the techniques to remove them, and about the resulting benefits of this important conservation work.
The event will begin at 10 AM and end at 3 PM with a lunch break from 12 - 1PM. Come for the morning, afternoon, or both – participants are encouraged to come and go per their desired hours.
