COVID-19 Response

Polk County buildings are closed at this time. We will continue to provide services online and by phone. Polk County’s top priority will remain the safety of employees and the public and will continue to evaluate the appropriate time to open Polk County buildings to the public based on the most current data and recommendations from the Polk County Health Department.

The Polk County Recorder’s Office will be restricting access to our office.  All services will be processed via mail, online or e-submission. 


~ The Recorder’s Office staff will be available to provide services to real estate recordings by mail or esubmission.  Anyone needing special assistance, please call 515-286-3160.


~   The Recorder’s Office will process mailed requests for certified copies of births, deaths, marriages and marriage applications.   Same day service has been suspended for both certified copies and marriage applications. For further information contact the Vital Records Department at 515-286-3781.


~ Renewal of boats and other recreational vehicles can be done online. Other DNR services will be processed through the mail.  


~ US Passport application services has been suspended until further notice.


~ Most real estate records can be viewed online at www.polkrecorder.com.  If you are need of further assistance call the imaging department at 515-286-3175.
