Polk County Sheriff Kevin J. Schneider is proud to announce the launch of the Polk County Jail Data Dashboard.  This dashboard provides the public a monthly view of certain population trends within the Polk County Jail.  It includes monthly statistical information such as the total number of bookings, total number of releases, most common offenses, demographics, and more.  The Polk County Jail Dashboard is the first of its kind in Iowa, and one of only a few across the United States.  The Polk County Jail Dashboard was created in a collaborative effort between the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Board of Supervisors, and the Polk County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

“Providing the public a snapshot of the population trends within the Polk County Jail provides a unique perspective,” said Polk County Sheriff Kevin Schneider. “In my interactions with our community, people are always interested in the information this dashboard will provide.  It is my hope this will entice other parts of the Polk County justice system to strive to achieve something similar within their respective areas.”

“This dashboard will equip users with the tools necessary to make informed decisions in real time,” said Polk County Supervisor Board Chair Matt McCoy and 2025 CJCC Chair. “I’m excited for community engagement using this tool & data we’ve never had before.”

The Jail Dashboard will be made available to the public on March 4, 2025, and can be accessed on both the Polk County Jail Webpage https://www.polkcountyiowa.gov/county-sheriff/divisions/detention/ as well as the Polk County Criminal Justice Webpage https://www.polkcountyiowa.gov/board-of-supervisors/cjcc/ .
