Property Tax Reminder (9/30/2020)

MARY MALONEY, POLK COUNTY TREASURER—The first installment deadline for property tax due in fiscal year 2020-2021 is Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Mary Maloney, Polk County Treasurer reminds taxpayers “Your property tax information is already on our website. Polk County buildings remain closed to the public until further notice to slow the spread of the coronavirus. You are encouraged to use our Treasurer’s online payment system at where you may make full or partial payments.” Maloney also states, “We would like to remind our citizens that the service fee associated with an electronic check is only $0.30. In comparison, a postage stamp is now $0.55! The web service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week”. Staff are in the building processing online, mailed, and drop box payments and answering phone calls. Please be patient, voice call wait times are longer than usual due to the high call volume we are experiencing with the COVID-19 closure. Staff are working extra hours during the week and many Saturdays in an effort to get all the work processed during this extremely busy time.

Payments may be mailed but must have a postmark of no later than Wednesday, September 30th to be processed without late interest. To receive a September 30th postmark, please mail by 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30th at the main post office. The post office does not postmark on Sunday. If mailing from an outlying post office, please check postmark deadline requirements with the post office to obtain a timely postmark. Late interest on delinquent taxes accrues at 1.5% per month. Company affixed metered mail dates do not supersede the post office postmark.
