Therapeutic Horsemanship Program
The Therapeutic Horsemanship Program of Jester Park Equestrian Center serves those with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Our certified riding instructors develop a plan that is specifically tailored for each rider. This may include grooming, riding with assistive devices, side walkers or riding independently while on a lead rope. Every session includes developmentally appropriate games, learning and horsemanship. Development of verbal communication, non-verbal communication, fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, behavioral, sensory, play and social skills are all promoted in our one on one Therapeutic Riding Program.
Our certified therapeutic horsemanship instructors create structured, progressive, mounted and non-mounted lessons for riders with disabilities. The Therapeutic Riding Programs focus on using movement and interaction with the horse in addition to one on one interaction with our instructors can aid in the development of independence, self confidence, balance, hand/eye coordination and other skills important for daily living.
