Health Department and Hy-Vee Expand Partnership to Vaccinate Individuals Needing Second Dose

March 2, 2021

(Des Moines, IA) – The Polk County Health Department is delighted to share an expansion of its partnership with Hy-Vee. Hy-Vee is helping the Polk County Health Department COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic by vaccinating individuals who need their second dose of Moderna.

“Hy-Vee has graciously offered to share a portion of their federal allocation of Moderna to help vaccinate our clients at Polk County Health Department,” said Helen Eddy, director of Polk County Health Department. “We are so thankful for this and we estimate that everyone who received their first dose at the Health Department will receive their second dose by March 15, 2021.”

Second dose vaccine appointments through this partnership started March 1, 2021. Individuals who received their first dose at the Health Department and have been unable to schedule their second dose will now be able to go to a specific Hy-Vee location to get their second dose. The Polk County Health Department will be emailing eligible individuals to set up this appointment.

We ask the public NOT to contact the Hy-Vee, and instead follow the instructions on the email provided by the Polk County Health Department.
