Recommendations for individuals who use oxygen and are without power

The recent storm has caused widespread power outages that affect a large number of people that use oxygen. For your safety, we advise the following actions during this extended electrical outage:

  1. Seek shelter with a friend or family member that has active electrical service.
  2. Seek shelter in a hotel or other facility with electrical service.
  3. If you have a battery-powered oxygen unit please use it instead of your oxygen tanks.
  4. If you have a battery-powered oxygen unit you should have an adaptor to power the unit and may be able to charge the battery from your car.

We also recommend calling your home health agency or vendor if you need emergency supplies. There are vendors in the community that can provide mobile or delivery services.

If you think you need to get tested for COVID-19 or have been exposed, call your clinic FIRST. DO NOT go to the ER or clinic. You could potentially expose others to COVID-19 or be exposed to COVID-19.
