CDC and Health Department Hosts NHANES Media Day
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and The Polk County Health Department will host a NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) media day on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 9:00 AM to noon at the Iowa State Fair Grounds.
Polk County is one of 15 counties that was selected to be part of the NHANES initiative in 2019.
NHANES is a program of studies designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States. The survey is unique in that it combines interviews and physical examinations. Each year, 5,000 residents across the nation have the chance to participate in the latest National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), part of the CDC.
Media will be able to tour the mobile examination center, meet the CDC’s health professionals, nutritionists and health technicians and conduct interviews with staff.
