In Polk County, the number of students who have not been fully vaccinated has increased. Since 2009, the number of students in this category has increased over 70%.
By 2016, 2,930 students or 1 in 29 students in Polk County schools were missing at least one of the required vaccines. Consequently, many districts have fallen below recommended immunization rates and could be at risk for a vaccine-preventable disease outbreak.
