Polk County Board of Supervisors Address Health & Disability Services

Advisory committees to address services for adults and children.

 

Des Moines, IA- The Polk County Board of Supervisors are dedicated and committed to providing access to mental health and disability services to the residents of Polk County. In furtherance of their commitment, the Polk County Regional Mental Health and Disability Services Governing Board appointed members of two advisory committees to serve on behalf of the community.

 

The Polk County Regional Mental Health and Disability Services Governing Board convened on February 12, 2020. At this meeting, the Regional Governing Board established a Regional Adult Advisory Committee and a Regional Children’s Advisory Committee and appointed members to the respective committees. The purpose and responsibility of the advisory committees are to provide the communities’ concerns, ideas and recommendations as it relates to local availability and access of needed mental health and disability services, and children’s behavioral services to the Polk County Regional Governing Board for the Board’s review and consideration.

Polk County Board Chair Matt McCoy says of the new advisory committee, “Polk County has always placed mental health services for our community as a top priority. The appointment of these dedicated community volunteers serving on the Regional Advisory Committees will allow us to address delivery of services in a more comprehensive way.”
