Boards & Commissions
House File 243 requires all appointive boards, commissions, committees and councils of a political subdivision be gender balanced by January 1, 2012, by using a fair and unbiased method of selecting the best qualified applicant, regardless of gender, after making a three month good faith effort to appoint a gender balanced board. The Polk County Board of Supervisors will be considering gender balance in reviewing all board and commissions appointments to ensure compliance with this new law.

National Citizen's Survey
In 2014 the Polk County Board of Supervisors conducted the first National Citizen's Survey to measure the satisfaction that Polk County residents have regarding our community and Polk County services. The survey provided useful data that serves as a benchmark from which to make improvements and provided comparisons to cities and counties of similar size and demographics. We will use this information to work with local partners on continuing to improve our community and services.
