3 Things to Know About Property Tax Credit Programs

The Polk County Treasurer’s Office accepts applications for the Iowa Property Tax Credit for Senior and Disabled Citizens. Individuals who meet age and annual household income requirements may qualify for an annual property tax credit.

Three things to know about the program:

1. Individuals must meet one of the following criteria.
   • Totally disabled aged 18+
   • 65-69 by December 31, 2024
   • 70 and older by December 31, 2024
2. Download the application and submit the completed form by the June 1 deadline. A completed application should be submitted each year to receive the maximum benefit of the tax credit.
3. The credit will be automatically applied to the September tax statement for eligible applicants. Applications received after the June deadline will be processed at a later date and when eligible, a refund will be processed.

You may mail your application to 111 Court Ave., Des Moines, IA 50309 or place the completed form in the drop box located near the south entrance of the Polk County Administration Building located at 111 Court Avenue, Des Moines.
