3 Things to Know About Renewing Online Vehicle Registrations

Is it time to renew your vehicle registration? The Polk County Treasurer’s Office offers online renewal and payment options. Save time and complete your registration online.

Go to www.iowataxandtags.org.

1. Enter the license plate number along with the PIN or driver’s license number.
2. Add the desired items to the shopping cart.
3. Select the payment method and check out.
   1. E-check or electronic check is completed by entering the routing number and account number.
   2. Credit card payments incur a transaction fee based on the amount paid.
   3. Debit card payments incur a flat transaction fee.

A new registration and license plate tags will be mailed to the address on file.

Submit information by mail or drop box

You may also mail in your registration to 111 Court Ave., Des Moines, IA 50309 or place items in the drop box located at the near the south entrance of the Polk County Administration Building located at 111 Court Avenue, Des Moines. If you choose to visit our office, an appointment is encouraged.
