UPDATE: Lindaman sentenced to 50 years in prison

UPDATE: An Ankeny doctor was sentenced to 50 years in prison Friday for abusing children. 

Lynn Lindaman, 73, was convicted in February of second-degree sexual assault for abusing an 8-year-old girl. This month, Lindaman admitted that he was previously convicted of lascivious acts with a child in 1976 in Johnson County. 

Under Iowa Code section 901A.2(3), because Lindaman had a previous conviction of a sexually predatory offense, he received a prison sentence of up to 50 years in prison and must serve 42½ years. 

Feb. 16, 2024: 

A Polk County jury convicted Lynn Lindaman of second-degree sexual assault on Friday.

Dr. Lindaman, 73, was accused of abusing an 8-year-old child in his home in Ankeny on June 27, 2023. The jurors deliberated for about an hour before announcing their verdict on Friday.

Second-degree sexual assault carries a 25-year prison sentence, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 17½ years. In addition, Dr. Lindaman faces an enhanced penalty because of a previous conviction of lascivious acts with a child in 1976 in Johnson County. He received a deferred judgment in that case.

He is scheduled to stand trial April 1, 2024, on the enhanced charge. If convicted, he could face 50 years in prison with a mandatory 42½ years.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Attorneys Meggan Guns and Kevin Bell, with assistance from Kayla McKee. Special Agent Laura Myers of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation.
