Statement From Polk County Supervisors on Shooting at Perry High School

Published 1/4/2024 12:31:12 PM

Our hearts are with the students, families and the school district staff of the Perry community. This tragedy is unfathomable and Polk County stands ready to assist our neighbors in any way possible. This is the third mass shooting in Central Iowa in the last two years and a stark warning that our rural state and communities are not immune to senseless gun violence. We all have work to do to ensure that no more families feel the pain of losing a family member to gun violence but in this moment we join them in grieving. The Board commends the quick action of local law enforcement and medical personnel from multiple agencies both in and outside of Polk County who responded to this tragic event.
