National Hispanic Bar Association honors assistant county attorney

Assistant Polk County Attorney Eva Morales was recognized with two honors by the National Hispanic Bar Association this month. 

Morales, who has been in the office since November 2015, was chosen as one of 17 attorneys nationally for the Latina Leadership Academy. The daylong program is for Latina attorneys practicing less than 10 years. The curriculum offers professional development and leadership training aimed at “shattering glass ceilings and securing the advancement and long-term success of Latina lawyers—the most underrepresented group in the legal profession,” the National Hispanic Bar Association said. The academy was held as part of the association’s annual convention in Minneapolis in September. 

“I feel very honored to have been selected,” Morales said. “It was very eye-opening and empowering and over all, just a wonderful learning opportunity.” 

The association also selected an article authored by Morales to publish in Noticias, its official publication. Morales wrote about Polk County’s Safe Babies Court Team, a national model for resolving child welfare cases involving infants and toddlers.
