Reserve Deputy Unit

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has an active Reserve Deputy Unit.  A Reserve Deputy must meet the same pre-employment standards that a full-time Deputy must met.  These standards are set by the Polk County Civil Service Commission pursuant to Iowa Code.

Candidates for Reserve Deputy will become sown Reserve Deputies upon successful completion of an Iowa Law Enforcement Academy certified course of instruction.  Reserve Deputies will be provided with uniforms and equipment. 

Reserve Deputies may work assignments in the Polk County Jail, Court Services, Patrol, Community Relations, Civil and Criminal Investigations Divisions. Reserve Deputies will participate with community outreach opportunities. Reserve Deputies are required to work a minimum of 144 hours collectively from January to December.
