Urban - land owner resources

Traditional urban development and landscaping designs cause rainfall to flow off roofs, sidewalks, driveways, and compacted lawns. Water flows into the street, down the storm drain or road ditch to the nearest stream, river, or lake.  This urban runoff can carry pollution, cause erosion, and cause troublesome problems for homeowners.

To address these issues, urban residents can utilize Rainscaping practices to manage their runoff.  These rainscaping practices include rain gardens, native prairie plantings, soil quality restoration, permeable pavers and more.  Numerous funding opportunities are available for Polk County residents to help fund up to 50% of installation costs.  Additional information can be found by following the links below.

Polk County, on behalf of the Walnut Creek Watershed Management Authority (WMA) is inviting experienced professional services teams (Consultant) to submit their qualifications for the development of the Walnut Creek Watershed 5-Year Implementation Plan.
