Polk County To Host ARPA Public Presentation

Polk County presentation to focus on best use of federal dollars to benefit affordable housing.

 

Des Moines, IA- On Tuesday, Polk County Supervisors will hold another, in a series of public presentations, on investment of funds through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This presentation will specifically focus on investments in affordable housing options in the community.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021, is a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package. In this law, state and local governments receive a total of $350 billion in assistance. Polk County has approximately $65 million dollars in funds that will be used for strategic investment in the community.

The Board of Supervisors will focus on four key areas for long-term strategic investments: Affordable Housing, Economic Well-Being, Water Quality, and Mental Health

The public and members of the media are invited to participate in the public presentation regarding affordable housing either in-person or online. Those wishing to speak must do so in-person.
