Juvenile Division

The Juvenile Division of the Polk County Attorney’s Office is responsible for the prosecution of Child in Need of Assistance, Juvenile Delinquency, and Truancy Court cases in Polk County’s seven juvenile courtrooms.  Under Iowa law, County Attorneys are also statutorily obligated to present evidence in support of the contentions made in the application in juvenile mental health commitment hearings. A Juvenile Bureau Chief oversees twelve Assistant County Attorneys and seven support personnel.  Prosecutors from the Juvenile Bureau/Division are active participants in several Polk County specialty courts including Family Recovery Court, Teen Drug Court, Zero to Three’s Safe Babies Court Team, and Too Good to Lose
