The Civil Bureau

The Office of the County Attorney has a Criminal Bureau, Civil Bureau and Juvenile Bureau. The Civil Bureau consists of a Bureau Chief, 10 Assistant County Attorneys, three paralegals and two legal secretaries. The Civil Bureau is responsible for providing general counsel to Polk County, Iowa and advising all county elected and appointed officials, departments, boards and commissions. This responsibility also includes providing legal representation and legal defense for Polk County, Iowa, its elected and appointed officials, departments and employees against legal claims made against them.

The County Attorney-Civil Bureau does not and cannot provide legal representation or provide legal advice to private citizens.
