Board

About the Board

In Polk County, the Board of Supervisors convenes every other Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. to consider and act upon official business and approve personnel appointments.

The Board holds work sessions on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with staff and others to discuss and clarify items for future agendas. Both meetings are held in Room 120 of the Administrative Office Building at 111 Court Avenue.

The budget process is the most important power of the Board. By using the budget process effectively, the Board is able to monitor and correct inefficiencies in all organizational units, including elected departments, quasi-organizations, and administrative departments.

Most importantly, the Board is available to its constituency on a full-time basis and can respond to issues of importance to citizens. The Board also appoints individuals or serves on a number of Boards and Commissions that affect all aspects of Polk County.
