Polk County Treasurer's Office responsibilities

• Issue vehicle titles, registration renewals, junking certificates, personalized and other special emblem plates.
• Notate and release security interests.
• Collect one-time new vehicle registration fees, registration and document fees.
• Process credits and refunds on vehicle registration fees.
• Serve as an agent of the Iowa Department of Transportation for renewal and title review.
• Serve as a collection agent for the Iowa Department of Revenue, Polk County Clerk of Court, and local municipalities when payment is required for outstanding parking tickets.

An appointment is required to transfer a vehicle title, and encouraged for all transactions.
