Polk County COVID Testing Site Closure

DES MOINES, Iowa – Friday, April 1, 2022, the COVID-19 testing site at Riverplace will close. The closure of the testing site is due to the low community transmission and the ability to pick up at-home kits and kits through Test Iowa. 

Individuals can pick up and drop off Test Iowa kits at the Polk County Health Department located at 1907 Carpenter Ave., Des Moines. Test kits can be picked up Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Individuals wanting to drop off test kits need to return them promptly at 3:00 PM to be tested the next day. Tests are also shipped free of charge to households through the website COVID.gov/tests.

At this time, there are no plans to reopen the Riverplace drive-thru location. However, Polk County Health Department continues to monitor COVID-19 spread and changes in variants. Testing plans could be altered if the need arises in the future.
