Eligible Citizens Reminded to Apply for Property Tax Credit Program by June 1

Participants must meet income guidelines and apply each year.

The Polk County Treasurer’s Office is accepting applications from individuals who meet age and annual household low-income requirements for the Elderly Property Tax Credit program. Completed applications should be submitted by June 1, 2024.

To qualify for the program, individuals must:

1. Meet one of the following criteria
   • Totally disabled aged 18+
   • 65-69
   • 70 and older
2. Comply with the eligibility requirements, including income limits.
3. Submit the completed claim form by the due date.

Applicants must meet the age requirement by December 31, 2023.

Completed applications submitted by June 1, 2024, will be applied to the September 1, 2024 tax statement. Claim forms received after the due date will be processed at a later date and may not be automatically applied to the September tax statement.

Applicants are reminded to submit the completed claim form by the due date each year to receive the maximum benefit of the tax credit.
