Communication Resources in Different Languages

Polk County Health Department Language Line

The Polk County Health Department has a call center specifically dedicated to providing assistance to individuals 65 and older who do not have the ability to access internet or a computer to set up a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. Our call center team is able to work with individuals who do not speak English.

This is the process that non-English speaking 65+ residents have to follow when they want to contact our call center:

  1. Dial (515) 323-5221
  2. Indicate the following:
    • Language
    • Name
    • Phone number
  3. Caller is notified that Call Center will call back using language line.
  4. Call ends
  5. Call Center calls back resident to the indicated phone number
  6. An interpreter (speaking the indicated language) will be on the line to assist with the call.
