Iowa Donor Network

The Polk County Medical Examiner will contact the Iowa Donor Network if it is possible that the decedent may be suitable for donation. This could include (but not be limited to) tissue and eyes.  Persons who die outside of a hospital setting are not eligible to donate internal organs.

If appropriate, the Iowa Donor Network will be given the name and phone number of the decedent’s next of kin.

The decision of whether to allow donation rests solely with the decedent’s next of kin and their family.
